We have previously discussed how many women enjoy wearing larger, more masculine watches. Numerous female celebrities have been spotted wearing chunkier Rolex watches. However Rolex certainly create beautifully stunning watches for ladies who like their timepieces a little more glamorous! A predictable change from Rolex at Baselworld 2017 was the all steel Lady-Datejust models. However we couldn't resist highlighting our particular favourite, the Rolex Lady-Datejust 28 ref. 279160 with its stunning, pink dial.
Last year at Baselworld 2016 we were introduced to a new range of 28mm bi-metal, and all gold Datejust models. This meant we were only waiting for the stainless steel 26mm. This year the stainless steel Lady-Datejust was revealed, however the smallest timepiece now available from Rolex has increased from 26 to 28mm. As there has been the tendency more recently for larger watches for both men and women, this perhaps was the reasoning behind this slight change.
The light pink dial works beautifully with the 904L steel Lady-Datejust 28, as well as a white Rolesor version (which combines 904L steel and 18 ct white gold) with a fluted or gem-set bezel in 18 ct white gold. These new versions are available with a wide choice of dials. However if you are someone who appreciates a watch that really sparkles on the wrist, the ref. 279381RBR is certainly a Datejust you cannot ignore! The mother-of-pearl dial has that "wow factor" and its nice to know that Rolex never artificially colour it. Instead, each one is unique! There will never be an identical dial on another wrist.
Rolex first released the Oyster Perpetual Datejust in 1945, which coincided with the 40th Anniversary of the company. The date display is definitely the most renowned feature of the Datejust. It was in the 1950s after the magnifying Cyclops lens was added, that the Lady Datejust was launched. The Lady Datejust was the first female specific version of the Rolex date chronometer. The female Datejust shared the same technology and features of the larger version, and since its launch there have been numerous versions specifically designed for women in mind.
Here at Armour Winston we currently have a stunning all gold Ladies Datejust. This Rolex ref.179178 in 18ct yellow gold is in fabulous condition and features a diamond dot dial, fluted bezel and presidential bracelet with concealed clasp. This model is the slightly smaller size of 26mm.
