Here at Armour Winston we have previously mentioned Ed Sheeran’s extensive collection of Patek Philippe watches. He clearly enjoys luxury watches and his choices are very design orientated, always making a statement. In the photos from British GQ magazine’s March interview, it is easy to spot Ed's stunning Patek Philippe ref.5524G Calatrava Pilot. With his new album ÷ (Divide) in the spotlight, we wanted to also shine the light on this incredible timepiece.
The Patek Philippe Calatrava collection was created in 1932, and is the result of an avant-garde philosophy of aesthetics that showcases sleek lines and subtle elegance. The 5524G was based on Pateks heritage in pilot’s watches. In particular two of their early 1930s hour-angle watches, that are now on display at the Patek Philippe Museum. Whilst each model in this collection has differed over the years, they are all unmistakable members of the Calatrava family. No other watch lends better expression to the true Patek Philippe style. The 5524G Pilot watch has been extremely popular since it was first released at Baselworld in 2015. It initially may have had mixed reviews, but it now is one of the most difficult Patek Philippe watches to get your hands on!
The Patek Philippe reference 5524G Calatrava Pilot has a 42 millimetre white-gold Calatrava case and dark blue dial. The brown leather strap adds that vintage, classic feel. Ed has also been seen wearing a quite complicated edition of Patek’s sports watch, the Nautilus Annual Calendar 5726A. This edition has a steel case and a leather strap, which we we particularly like! The 5524G has helped Patek attract a slightly younger audience from past years, and Ed Sheeran has certainly reinforced this. Whilst there are many influencers and bloggers wearing luxury watches, Ed is able to show off this amazing watch in such a popular publication, which has been a great for increased interest in the Patek 5524G!
Why not copy Ed Sheeran’s style with one of the Patek Philippe watches we currently have available here at Armour Winston. We love this 5196R Calatrava watch from 2008. The rose gold and brown leather strap is a perfect combo!
