Our top 5 watches to wear this New Year’s Eve

Happy New Year's Armour Winston

How are you celebrating New Year’s Eve? Whether you are going to be dancing all night, watching the fireworks or enjoying a memorable meal, we think you need to make a statement with your timepiece! Here are our top 5 watches (that are all currently available in store) which will truly stand out on your wrist when the clock strikes midnight…

AW Cartier Tank Française

1. Cartier Tank Française

This is an absolute classic and iconic watch that will look incredible with any outfit. We currently have many Tank watches available, but we especially immaculate Cartier Tank Française with original diamond set case and winding crown. The Tank Française updated the legacy of the Tank wristwatch with a chain-link bracelet. The curved case is boldly set right at the centre of the bracelet to seamlessly mimic its lines. There is so much history with the Tank too. Louis Cartier designed the Tank during the First World War after being inspired by the Renault tank. It is both a square and a rectangle at once, and was incredibly unique at this time. In 1921 the Tank Cintrée had a longer and curved case. Unlike the other Cartier Tanks, at the end of the 1920s it received Arabic numerals on its dial. We really don’t think you can go wrong with such a classic!

AW Rolex Submariner

2. Rolex Submariner

Be beautiful in blue this New Year’s Eve. We adore this Rolex Submariner 116618LB. The brilliant blue dial is so vivid and distinctive. It is characterised by hour markers fashioned from 18 carat gold. If blue isn’t your colour, we have many other stunning Submariner’s available.

The Oyster Perpetual Submariner is the quintessential divers’ watch which has an interesting history. Released in 1953 during the pioneering era for scuba diving, the Oyster case is an important part of the Submariner story, as it is clamped shut like an oyster shell. During the Rolex Submariner hype in the1970s, it was also transformed it into a more colourful timepiece. The first Submariner's were designed in silver steel with black faces, however overtime they became available in yellow gold and bright blue faces.

AW Cartier Ballon Bleu

3. Cartier Ballon Bleu

One of our favourites in the shop this year, the Cartier Ballon Bleu is really special. The Ballon Bleu is a relatively recent creation from Cartier,  released by in 2006, with its more rounded, curvy shape. The name comes from the two most prominent details of the watch, the blue synthetic sapphire ‘cabochon’ that is mounted in the crown, and the spherical ‘balloon’ shape of the case.

Designed to appeal to both men and women, the Ballon Bleu is a modern and elegant watch. Despite its short history, this timepiece has quickly become one of the world’s most well-known watches. We currently have a Cartier midsize (36mm) rose gold Ballon Bleu De Cartier watch in showroom condition. The case is in 18K pink gold, with a fluted crown set with a sapphire cabochon. The 12-zone flinqué dial with lacquered silvered sunray effect is set with 11 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 0.10 carats. The perfect watch to sparkle whilst celebrating the New Year.

AW Everose Cosmograph Daytona

4. Rolex Daytona

We really love the Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, which was first introduced in 1963. It was designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers. It has a highly reliable chronograph and bezel with tachymetric scale, which allows drivers to perfectly measure average speeds up to 400 kilometres or miles per hour. We have some stunning Rolex Daytona’s to send you into 2018, and we especially like this 2016 Rolex 116505 Everose Cosmograph Daytona.

AW Cartier Tank Américaine

5. Cartier Tank Américaine

If you haven’t already read out recent blog about Cartier Diamond Tank Américaine watches, you can catch up here.  In 1989 the Tank Americaine was also introduced with this long and curved case, bringing back the stunning shape of the Tank Cintrée. However unlike the design of the 1920s, they were able to introduce a waterproof case.

We often have some stunning examples come into the shop and this one is no exception. This fine Cartier medium size American tank watch is in 18 carat yellow gold, with an exquisitely set diamond case and winding crown. The brown alligator strap looks great with the limited edition 'cinnamon' dial. Another dazzling wristwatch that we think will look perfect on Sunday evening!

We hope you have a very Happy New Year and enjoy all your celebrations!
