Rolex and yachting

Most Rolex watches produced today use the brand's Oyster case which embodies years of development that started with the original Rolex Oyster watch from 1926. Today we often assume watches are waterproof, but that was developed along with Rolex’s Oyster case, which kept the mechanism dry. Rolex Oyster Professional watches are more durable and utilitarian in design. In most cases get have additional production or testing steps added to their manufacture.

Here is a couple of Rolex Sports watches that are our personal favourites for the beginning of 2017...

Rolex Yachtmaster II

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II ref.116681

The Rolex Yacht-Master II is designed with professional sailors in mind. This regatta chronograph features the world's first programmable countdown with a mechanical memory. It has precise synchronisation with the crucial starting sequence of a yacht race. We just love the colours of this watch. The gold is coveted for its lustre and nobility, whereas steel reinforces strength and reliability. Mixed with the bright blue and bright white dial, it really shows a truly stunning Rolex signature design. If you enjoy a spot of sailing and fresh sea air, this is truly the one for you.

Rolex Explorer II Watch

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II ref.216570

The Rolex Explorer II was first released in 1971, and is the natural heir to the original Rolex Explorer. A robust, highly refined tool, the Explorer II swiftly became the watch of choice of speleologists, volcanologists and polar and jungle explorers, thanks to its specially designed features. Like the Yacht-Master it has a beautiful, distinctive white dial. It is also characterised by hour markers made from 18 ct gold to prevent tarnishing. Rolex uses 904L stainless steel for its steel watch cases. 904L is mainly used in the high technology, aerospace and chemical industries, where maximum resistance to corrosion is essential. It maintains its beauty even in the harshest environments, therefore perfect for the rugged outdoors!
